“As a junior, Josh has proven to be one of those highly motivated athletes that will do whatever it takes to be successful,” said Peachtree Ridge head coach Ron Clanton. “He always does the little things to prepare himself for the competition. In his training schedule, there are never any shortcuts to success. He has devoted himself to high academic and athletic standards. He has developed into a leader in the classroom and on the athletic field.”

Brickell will begin his senior year of high school this fall.

  • Undergarment top and/or bottom does not have to be the same color.
  • Each team member shall wear the same color and design of school uniform. If undergarments are worn by two (2) or more team members, all undergarments must be of the same color and design.
  • Undergarments are restricted to one logo per piece of clothing. If two(2) logos are visible, the undergarment becomes illegal.
  • Gloves are permitted.
  • Arm sleeves are permitted, if they are of a single, solid color and unadorned.
  • Beanies, toboggans, ear covers are permitted if of a single color, unadorned (one logo only.)
  • Socks are not a part of the uniform.
  • Athletes must wear assigned numbers, unaltered and clearly visible.
  • All other NFHS/GHSA rules regarding uniforms are applicable in the State Championships. See the GHSA Constitution and By-Laws for clarifications.

Cross Country Rosters

REMINDER

All schools must file their Cross Country rosters (both boys and girls) with the Georgia High School Association. Rosters must be filed electronically on this website. The deadline for filing is midnight - Monday, October 17, 2011. Please be sure all coaches are aware of this requirement. Failure to file the team rosters will result in fines against the school.

In order to facilitate and more accurately report region competition results, the GHSA has established a new procedure for reporting cross country team rosters this year. We have created a roster form on the GHSA website that will be used to report cross country team rosters instead of the paper forms used in the past.

We are asking that each school authorize a representative that will be responsible for reporting an accurate roster of the school's cross country teams - boys and girls. This may be one individual for boys and girls or you may select a different individual for each.

If you reported rosters last year, your username will still be setup to enter rosters this year - you do not need to contact us again to gain access. We will need to give each individual that will be reporting results a username and password to log in to the GHSA website. Reporting rosters will be a restricted to authorized users only. Member schools will also be unable to access another school's rosters.

To get a username and password for each individual that will be reporting rosters, have each of them go to the GHSA website (www.ghsa.net) and click on the Register link at the upper right corner of the home page. You will then be presented with a registration page. Enter a username, email address, your full name, and your athletic title and click the Create New Account button. At that time, if everything is OK, the system will send an email to your email address with your password and a link that you must use in order to validate your account. Once you receive this email, you can either login with your username and the supplied password (using the Login link at the upper right corner of the GHSA home page), or preferably click the one-time link contained in the email. After this is done, you will be given a page where you can change your password to one you can easily remember. You will use this username and password to login to the GHSA website.

Once you have gotten your username and password, please email webmaster@ghsa.net and let us know what your username is, your school, and which roster you will be reporting (boys cross country, girls cross country, or both). Please do not send your account password. We will then give you access to the roster form and send you some instructions on entering rosters.

You will not get access to the form by just registering - you must contact us in order to get access.

The deadline for 2011-2012 cross country rosters is October 17, 2011.

First Presbyterian Day School Standout Named 2010-2011 Gatorade Georgia Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year

CHICAGO (January 13, 2011) — In its 26th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with ESPN RISE, today announced Grace Tinkey of First Presbyterian Day School as its 2010-11 Gatorade Georgia Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. Tinkey is the first Gatorade Georgia Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from First Presbyterian Day School.

The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the racecourse, distinguishes Tinkey as Georgia’s best high school girls cross country runner. The 5-foot-3 sophomore raced to the Class A individual state championship this past season with a time of 18:04.74, leading the Vikings to second place as a team. The three-time All-Middle George Runner of the Year as named by The Macon Telegraph, Tinkey placed 10th at the Foot Locker South Regional championships in 17:41 in addition to finishing 15th at the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in 17:53. She captured first place at the Mercy Invitational, Berry Invitational, Decision Bridge Invitational, Mercer RunFit Sports Invitational, Wesleyan Invitational, Carrollton Last Chance meet and Region 9-A meet this past fall. Tinkey won the 2008 and 2009 Georgia Independent Schools Association Class AAA individual state championship as a freshman and eighth-grader.

Also a track standout, Tinkey has maintained an A average in the classroom and serves as her school’s class secretary. A member of the First Presbyterian Day School Spanish Club, she has volunteered locally at a food bank, as part of a youth ministry, on behalf of an animal shelter, with the Ronald McDonald House Charities and as a youth athletic instructor.

“She kind of put us on the radar,” said First Presbyterian Day head coach April Cassell. “We had a great team overall, but she’s stood out. This was our first year in public school competition, but everybody knew about her. It’s a combination of work ethic and smarts on the course. She put in the extra hours, working out before and after school. She also knew before going into a race what to expect and what to do. She has it all planned out ahead of time.”

Tinkey will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
