2023 Slam Dunk & 3-Point Contest Information

We are looking for the state’s best basketball players to enter the 2023 Slam Dunk / 3-Point Contests, presented by BSN Sports. Last year, the girls 3-Point Contest was won by Bella Brick of Flowery Branch, who also captured the first-ever coed 3-point title with teammate Landon Mealor. Repeating as BSN Sports Boys Slam Dunk winner was Wilson Sibley of North Oconee. Have some fun & join the competition today!

•    One classification
•    One entry per school
•    Participants must meet all GHSA eligibility standards
•    Special props/ gimmicks are not allowed.  Participants may use one individual to assist.
•    Videos should be no longer than :30 seconds. In-game video will be accepted.
•    Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded

•    Entries accepted at https://woobox.com/43w2c2.  Starting Monday, January 30 through Sunday, February 12, 2023. 
•    To enter a video users must first upload their video to one of the accepted platforms (YouTube, Vimeo, or Instagram) and then enter the video URL into that field.

•    Fans can vote for as many players as they’d like during a single voting session. One voting session is allowed each round.

•    Jan. 30 – Feb. 12     Slam dunk entries accepted.
•    Feb. 14 – Feb. 19    1st round voting on GHSA.net & @OfficialGHSA social media
•    Feb. 21 – Feb. 26    Semifinal round voting among Top 8

Semifinal Sites – Saturday February 25, 2023

  1. Preliminary competition is Saturday, February 11 at locations TBS. Registration opens at each site at 9:00 AM, and all contestants must complete the “Registration/Liability Waiver” prior to participating (online or at the site).
  2. Competition is scheduled to start at 9:30 AM. Warm-up time will be allowed relative to the time available at each site.
  3. Competitors will draw numbers to indicate the order of competition.
  4. Each competitor will be allowed two rounds of competition, with the highest single-round score used to determine advancement to the semifinals. All participants will rotate in the same order in both rounds.
  5. Each round will be 90-seconds, with six balls at each of the four locations indicated.
  6. Each of the first five balls in each rack counts as one point, with the final ball in each rack counting as three points.
  7. In the Co-Ed competition, participating teams shall be from the same school. The girl shall select two of the shooting spots and the boy shall shoot from the other two spots. They may choose any order, but shall alternate shooting the entire rack of balls before their teammate shoots.
  8. In the event of a tie, the 1st tie-breaker is the total score from both rounds. The 2nd tie-breaker is a shoot off at the free throw line (alternating attempts until one successful shooter is left).
  9. After all the participants have completed the two rounds, the top four-point totals from each quarterfinal site will advance to the semifinals at a site to be determined on February 25.
  10. After all the participants have completed the semifinal round, the top scoring individual from each semifinal site will advance to the Co-Ed Championship Finals March 9 and Girls Championship Finals March 10 at the Macon Centreplex Arena.
