
Entry Notification
The entry and roster forms for the Girls Gymnastic State Qualifying Meet must be received by the meet director no later than Monday, April 4, 2011. Please make a copy for your records. If for any reason you do not plan to enter, please check the appropriate box and return the entry form to the meet director.

Time and Place
The State Qualifying Meet will be held at The Lovett School on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16, 2011.
Sessions
1st Session
Friday, April 15, 2011 - 6:00 P.M.
Gym open at 4:45 P.M.
Timed warm-ups at 5:45P.M.
2nd Session
Saturday, April 16, 2011 - 10:00 A.M.
Gym open at 8:45 A.M.
Timed warm-ups at 9:45 A.M.
The results of the qualifying meets will be posted on the Lovett website at the conclusion of the meet on Saturday.
Optional
Only optional exercises will be used to qualify individuals, all-arounds and teams for the State Finals.
Judges
Qualifying Meets and State Finals - There will be two judges per event, and one additional judge will serve as a meet referee in the qualifying meet. All events will run simultaneously. In the state finals, all four events will be run simultaneously with four judges per event and one additional judge per event serving as meet referee.
Team Scoring
Team scores will be determined by Rule 4, Section 2, Article 2, 3 & 4 in the National Federation Rule book.
The top three individual scores will be totaled to determine a team’s event score.
Order of Events
The order of events shall be determined by draw for the teams.
Order of Competition
The order of competition will be determined by block style in the qualifying meets and in the finals. After the entry forms have been received, the sessions will be determined by random draw. Only schools traveling the greatest distance will be given consideration for change.
Number of Entries
Each team may enter four gymnasts per event, which will include all-arounds. More than one all-around may be entered. Only the top three scores will be totaled to determine a team’s event score.
Gymnasts
All teams and gymnasts must (except when prevented by injury) participate in a minimum of three (3) GHSA sanctioned varsity meets during the regular season in order to be eligible to participate in the state qualifying meet. (GHSA By-Law, page 71, D-6)
Warm-ups
The meet director will send a schedule to you. The warm-ups will be organized by teams with each team having equal time on the competitive apparatus.
Only competitors and officials may be permitted on the floor during competition coaches and/or gymnasts may be present to spot or assist. (Rule 5-1-1).
Coaches Meeting
A coaches’ meeting will not be necessary. Scratches should be made prior to the meet. If needed a judges’ meeting will be held prior to the competitions.
Substitutions
Any substitutions made will replace the slot the original team/gymnasts drew. Once the area meet is concluded, no substitutions may be made for any individual qualifier. Team substitutions are permitted at the finals during the competition in case of an injury. Any individual that does not compete in the area meet, must meet all other requirements to be a substitute in the state finals.
Team Roster
A team roster form is included in addition to your entry form and must be sent to the meet director. The names appearing on the roster will be the only ones admitted at the pass gate.
Schools that enter the qualifying meet, but do not attend, will be fined by the GHSA.

Schools that drop out of competition after qualifying may be penalized with fines or probation.

Tie Breaker
The top twelve individuals, all-arounds and the top six teams advance to the State Finals.
In the event of a tie, the place below that tie shall be eliminated. If the tie occurs for the twelfth place, after application of the tie breaking rule, all gymnasts tied will advance to the State Finals. The tie breaker will be: 1) Average all judges scores 2) If a tie still remains, use the superior judge’s score 3). If a tie still remains, the tie stands. This tie breaker will also be used at the State Finals.
Pass Gate
Only gymnasts that are competing and two (2) managers or one manager and a trainer will be permitted entry at the pass gate. All others will enter through the admission gat
Admission
At the qualifying meet and state finals, only state passes are honored. ADMISSION FOR STATE QUALIFYING MEETS AND FINALS AT THE GATE IS $7.00. PRE-SALE $7.00 ADULTS, $5.00 STUDENTS (Georgia High School Association Constitution and By-laws, page 72, Section A-1)
