Heat Policy Clarification for Games

The GHSA office wants to clarify the Heat and Humidity Policy (by-law 2.67) as far as games are concerned. The Heat and Humidity Policy guidelines are for practices only. They do not apply to games since the normal stoppages and breaks in action during a game are sufficient to allow proper hydration and cooling of athletes. And while scrimmages are extensions of practice, they are played under game conditions and with game timing.

Coaches, officials and game managers should work together during this extremely hot time of the year to ensure that there are appropriate breaks and hydration during these GHSA games.
