Central's Dunn Named Georgia's Heart of Arts Winner

Anya Hope Dunn from Central-Carroll High School has been selected as the Georgia winner of the NFHS High School Heart of the Arts Award for 2014-15.

The NFHS started the award “to recognize those individuals who exemplify the ideals of the positive heart of the arts that represent the core mission of education-based activities.”

Dunn’s many qualifications include holding a 4.1429 grade point average (Highest GPA Award), being a nominee for the Governor’s Honors Program in Math and Science, being a Central High School Band officer and section leader, being in the Symphonic Band-Principal Chair, being on District Level Honor Band, being the treasurer of the Central Student Council and being a member of the Beta Club, Key Club and FBLA. She also lettered twice in tennis and holds her school’s Perfect Attendance Award.

Dunn will now represent Georgia in competition for the District 3 award. The NFHS will recognize eight District Winners as well as one eventual National Winner. Every nominee, including Dunn, will receive a certificate signed by the NFHS Executive Director.
