In amazing finish, Lumpkin County and Madison County finished the competition tied for the championship with 1130 points. Madison was six points ahead of them going into the final relay but Lumpkin County’s Charles Tritt had a great score including 99 out of 100 in the difficult standing position. Lumpkin County won with the tie-breaker for its first GHSA riflery championship. The first tie-breaker used is the number of “inner tens” which are shots, measured electronically, virtually centered on the tiny pinhead sized bulls eyes. Lumpkin County had 46 of the inner tens and Madison County had 45. Luella won the 3rd place trophy with 1126 points.

In the individual championship, Tritt’s overall score of 291 earned him the first place position in the Finals for the top eight. He never turned loose of the position and had the highest finals’ score of 99.6 with a combined score of 390.6 earning him the gold medal. Jenna Bethea became Georgia Military’s first ever medalist at the championship with the Silver Medal and Parker Mize of Madison took the Bronze Medalist.
