Landmark Christian's Melanie Doggett Named 2025-2026 Gatorade National and Georgia Girls Track & Field Player of the Year

Landmark Christian School freshman Melanie Doggett has been named the 2025-26 Gatorade National Girls Track & Field Player of the Year, while also earning Georgia Girls Track & Field Player of the Year honors after one of the most remarkable debut seasons in high school track history.

The 5-foot-4 sprinter completed an undefeated season in individual events, capturing both the 100-meter and 200-meter national championships at the Nike Outdoor Nationals and Under Armour Nationals.

At Nike Outdoor Nationals, Doggett posted a wind-legal personal best of 11.18 seconds in the 100 meters, the second-fastest time ever recorded by a ninth-grade girl in U.S. prep history. She followed that performance with a personal-best 22.48 seconds in the 200 meters, also ranking as the second-fastest freshman time in prep history.

Earlier in the season at the Bill Thorn Invitational, Doggett turned in an all-conditions career-best 11.01 seconds in the 100 meters.

Excellence has extended well beyond the track. Doggett has maintained a weighted 4.0 GPA and is actively involved in both the Impact Leadership Program and ILT Missions Training. She volunteers in her community by reading to elementary school students, assists annually with Campbell Elementary School's Field Day, and has served as a guest speaker for Fast Feel Elite Track Club.

Doggett will begin her sophomore year this fall, already establishing herself as one of the nation's brightest young stars in track and field.
