Weekday Restrictions Waived for Hurricane Irma

Because of the many issues associated with Hurricane Irma, the GHSA Office is waiving the weekday restrictions in By-Law 2.66 with regard to scheduling all fall sports events through the remainder of the regular season.

The dates by which region/area winners must be determined in the various sports remain unchanged and the state playoffs will begin as scheduled. Sunday play is still prohibited (by-law 2.91), and schools should give priority to region contests when making up any postponed events.

NOTE: If a contest is to be rescheduled, the host school is responsible for contacting the officials' association assigned to the event. And the GHSA office MUST be notified of any varsity football game that is rescheduled.

If there are questions about rescheduling events, please contact the respective sports coordinator in the GHSA office: Football – Tommy Whittle (ext. 23); Softball – Ernie Yarbrough (ext. 27); Cheerleading – Penny Mitchell (ext. 22); Cross Country – Jay Russell (ext. 25); or Volleyball – Don Corr (ext. 34).
