Partnership to Launch at 2026 GHSA Basketball State Championships,
Supporting Student Athletes Across Georgia
Atlanta, GA (March 9, 2026) — Whataburger is proud to announce a new statewide sponsorship with Georgia High School Association (GHSA), the governing body for interscholastic athletics and activities for more than 457 public and private high schools across Georgia. The partnership officially tips off at the 2026 GHSA Basketball State Championships, taking place March 11–14 in Macon, Georgia, and will continue throughout the year at championship events and local activations statewide.
Through the partnership, Whataburger will support GHSA championship experiences for student athletes and their communities, including basketball, soccer, and football title events, along with select local game day activations and community-focused initiatives.
“At Whataburger, supporting student athletes is about more than the scoreboard. It’s about showing up for the moments that bring communities together,” Whataburger Brand Leader Shirley Belue and Made to Order Holdings President & COO Zack Kollias said in a joint statement. “For generations, Whataburger has been the after-game gathering place where teammates, families, and fans celebrate wins, regroup after tough losses, and make memories over hot, fresh food. Partnering with GHSA allows us to keep investing in Georgia schools, communities, and the young people who inspire us.”
As part of the sponsorship, Whataburger will connect with student athletes, families, and fans through championship event signage, in-game promotions, digital engagement, and on-site activations. The partnership will also explore special fundraising opportunities benefiting local schools, along with select high school football game day activations later in the year.
“The Georgia High School Association is proud to welcome Whataburger as a partner,” said Dr. Tim Scott, Executive Director of the GHSA. “The GHSA exists to provide student-athletes with opportunities to grow, compete, and represent their schools with pride. Partnerships like this allow us to elevate the championship experience while strengthening the connection between our schools and the communities that support them. We appreciate Whataburger’s commitment to investing in Georgia’s students and communities, and we look forward to building something meaningful together.”
